Sunday Morning in the Garden

Sunday morning we went to the garden at 7am. I weeded and planted the Impatiens from the Farmer’s Market and gifts from Dalia’s house. Boni used the weed whacker in the common area and then got busy cutting down pieces of bamboo he helped clear off another plot. He used the bamboo to construct a “fence” for our tomato’s and cucumbers and one to help balance the sunflowers when they grow. At 10am we packed up and went home and I tried to make a borscht using some of the vegetables from the local CSA, from the previous week. I am having a hard time eating the soup because of the color. Does anyone know what the plant is below? Hen n Chicken?

I love the color of the borscht. How does it taste? You could make pickled eggs. Very delicious summer food but they are still the same color!

    Love Jacque

The borscht did not taste good- I could not get past the color. The potatos and carrots also turned pink. I’ll make you some one day. Boni liked it.

The plant in the first photo is a Sedum.

    Where is your garden?

Thanks for the name of the plant. We grow our flowers and herbs at the Brooklyn College Community Garden. Have you been? We are hoping to have a garden tour in August.
